An intent marketplace is a marketplace where you describe what you need in plain language and the platform finds the people who can do it. You do not search, browse listings, filter, compare and contact. You state the intent once, and a short, ranked list of real people comes back with the reasons each one was chosen.
TimeCart is an AI intent marketplace. It is built on this model.
| Listings marketplace | Intent marketplace | |
|---|---|---|
| You start by | Typing keywords into a search box | Saying what you need in one sentence, typed or spoken |
| The platform returns | A wall of listings or profiles | A short list of matched people |
| Who compares | You, by reading each listing | The matching engine, on skills, location, timing and budget |
| Who ranks | Often whoever paid for placement | A scoring model. Placement is ranked, never sold |
| What you learn | Whatever the listing says | Why each match was made, stored with the match |
| Your contact details | Handed to every provider you message | Kept private. Chat and calls stay in-app, anonymous until you choose |
In short: a listings marketplace runs Search → Browse → Filter → Compare → Contact. An intent marketplace runs Describe → AI understands → AI matches → Connect → Complete.
Intent is the need behind the sentence. “Fix my dripping tap” carries a skill (plumbing), a place (where you are), a timing (soon) and usually a budget. An intent marketplace reads those four things out of the sentence, asks only for what is missing, and matches on meaning rather than on the exact words you used. A request for a “maths tutor for my daughter on weekends” finds tutors who teach that level and are free on weekends, not everyone whose profile contains the word “tutor”.
It is not a dating app, a freelancing platform, a job board, a social network or a classifieds site. It is one need, one short list of people who can meet it, and the decision stays with you.
